Michael Sharpe named as man whose body was found in Firth of Forth

Police have named a man whose body was found in the Firth of Forth last month.

Officers were previously trying to establish the identity of the young man, after his body was recovered from the water at Burntisland, Fife, on Friday, 19 March.

And today they confirmed his identity as 22-year-old Michael Sharpe from the Bonnybridge area.

Fife Police Division say they have concluded their enquiries, and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

They said in a statement: "Officers who were appealing for information to help identify the body of a young man that was recovered from the Firth of Forth at Burntisland on Friday, 19 March, have now concluded their enquiries.

"The body has been confirmed as that of 22-year-old Michael Sharpe from the Bonnybridge area. His family are devastated by their loss, Michael was a much loved family member, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
