Michael Kollner 'holds Celtic talks' as former Nurnberg boss swerves question on Parkhead job

Reports claim Celtic have held talks with former Nurnberg boss Michael Kollner.

And it's said the 49-year-old refused to comment to a German newspaper when asked if he was in the running to become Brendan Rodgers' successor.

Nurnberg sacked Kollner in February this year after a dismal run and the club went on to finish bottom of the Bundesliga - he'd previously managed their B team before being promoted in May 2017.

According to Wales Online, he is also a candidate to replace Graham Potter at Swansea City after his departure to Brighton.

It's claimed Kollner has had discussions with both the Swans and Celtic .

Interestingly, German newspaper Bild approached him for comment on his links to both jobs and report that he swerved the question.

It's also said that Kollner has been learning English in preparation for one day working outside Germany.

Celtic have remained tight-lipped over who will replace Rodgers' in the dugout full-time, with Neil Lennon having been in interim charge since February.

The Irishman secured the Premiership title and has guided the Hoops to a Scottish Cup Final against Hearts, where they can become the first Scottish side ever to win three consecutive domestic Trebles.

However, Lennon's grip on the post is far from certain if speculation around both Rafa Benitez and David Moyes is to be believed.

Newcastle boss Benitez has yet to agree a contract extension to keep him at St James' Park next season while Moyes has publicly admitted his interest.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager is the current bookies' favourite, having been out of work since leaving West Ham in 2018.
