Michael Keaton has some choice words for Trump fans: “Basically what he’s saying is these people are so stupid, they’d still vote for me”

Michael Keaton is known for his work as Batman, Mr. Mom, and so many other iconic roles. But he is also very loudly political and as someone from Pittsburgh, like Mr. Keaton, I love it.

I say this because Pennsylvania was a blue state when I was a kid. I turned 25 on the eve of the 2016 election and it was the first time in 28 years that the state went red. So Keaton pushing back at Trump supporters as a proud Pennsylvanian is not surprising to me. He had some pretty great words for those fans of the President who continue to show him support.

“They don’t really respect you,” Keaton started. “They laugh at you behind your back. They think you’re stupid. They don’t want to hang out with you. They have nothing in common with you, they’re not your bros. When Trump, years ago, said ‘I could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and they’d still vote for me,’ basically what he’s saying is these people are so stupid, they’d still vote for me. They have no respect for you, trust me.”

He’s not wrong. When Trump says these little insults, he’s saying that he is manipulating his voters. And yes, sure, some people who voted for him know what they’re doing an are fine with it. But there are Trump supporters who think he “loves” them when he could not care less about them. The reason that Pennsylvania was always a blue state is because it runs on the back of working class citizens. And Trump used them and has hurt the working class time and time again.

Knowing that men like Keaton are using their platforms to continue to talk about politics and reminding MAGA fans that Trump isn’t your ally. He is using you.
