Michael Crabtree could be a WR3 option for Vikings

The Vikings could find themselves in the market for a No. 3 receiver this offseason.

Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs have proved to be a great one-two punch (in whatever order you deem worthy), but Laquon Treadwell has been a mess. When Diggs was hurt last season, it was obvious the team needed more help.

One option in free agency could be veteran Michael Crabtree, who was recently released by the Baltimore Ravens. Crabtree, 31, ended last season with 54 catches for 607 yards and three touchdowns. He’s just two seasons removed from catching 89 passes for 1,003 yards and eight touchdowns.

Kirk Cousins would be a huge upgrade for the sure-handed Crabtree as far as the quarterback position is concerned, and behind Thielen and Diggs, Crabtree would certainly have opportunities.

The question is what type of contract Crabtree will ask for. The Vikings are cash-strapped, and there are other needs on this team that rank ahead of the third wide receiver spot, most notably the offensive line.

If I had to guess, the Vikings will stay the course with the current wide receivers on the roster, draft a player in the mid-to-late rounds, and hope someone can emerge.

But if not, Crabtree is certainly fun to think about in this offense.
