Michael Conlan vs TJ Doheny: Belfast weather forecast for fans attending fight night

Around 8,000 fans are expected at Falls Park on Friday evening for the massive Feile Fight Night.

The big boxing card is headlined by Michael Conlan's huge clash with former world champion TJ Doheny.

The West Belfast venue has been transformed in recent days and is sure to provide a cauldron atmosphere for those in attendance, not least the fighters who will go to war inside the ring.

But what will the weather be like for those attending the outdoor event?

Well, it doesn't sound too good for the end of the week, with a weather warning for thunderstorms having been issued for Northern Ireland.

The yellow warning from the Met Office comes into force from 10am on Friday, August 6, until midnight.

The forecaster said: "Slow moving thundery downpours may cause localised surface water impacts."

This comes as thunderstorms caused bad flooding across Northern Ireland last week.

What to expect

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater.
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

The fight action is set to get under way just after 5pm with Conan vs Doheny expected around 10.30pm.

Tickets for the Feile Fight Night sold out shortly after going on sale.
