Michael Carvill takes first steps into management

Michael Carvill has been appointed player-manager of Amateur League side Kilmore Rec.

The 33-year-old has returned to his boyhood club after bringing the curtain down on an Irish League career spanning 13 years.

Carvill won five Irish League titles and three Irish Cups during successful spells with Linfield and Crusaders.

He spent the last two seasons at Dungannon Swifts.

In a statement Kilmore FC said: "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Carvill as our new first team manager.

"One of the most successful and popular players to grace the Irish League, Michael spent the early part of his career playing through our own youth system at Kilmore Rec before moving onto bigger things in the form of Charlton Athletic in England.

"His core responsibility will be to manage the first team but he will also act as the Club’s Head of Football and will work closely with our team of excellent managers and coaches to implement a broader coaching and development strategy throughout the Club.

"Now Michael returns to where it all started, back to to his boyhood Club, to pick up the reigns as first team manager and, just like us, he couldn’t be more excited.

"As we move into this new and exciting era, the Committee would like to wish Michael and his team the very best of luck and every success."

Carvill is a UEFA-qualified coach and is currently studying for his UEFA Pro Diploma.

Dungannon Swifts announced on Wednesday Carvill would be leaving the club and thanked him for his efforts.
