Michael Barrymore set for Piers Morgan's Life Stories 18 years after Stuart Lubbock death

Michael Barrymore is set to return to the small screen after signing up for Piers Morgan's Life Stories.

The one-time TV host - who has been away from the limelight for 10 years - will sit down with the no-nonsense former newspaper editor to examine the highs and lows of his career.

A TV source told The Sun: “Michael is a huge name for the show and bosses hope that viewers will flock to see him.

“He’s had a very interesting life and, despite being away from the spotlight, there is a huge amount to talk about.

Michael Barrymore LOSES damages appeal against police over wrongful arrest

"Piers won’t be giving him an easy ride.”

Barrymore has not presented for over a decade, but has appeared on several reality shows including Coach Trip, Celebrity Big Brother and Come Dine With Me.

The entertainer was detained in 2007 on suspicion of the rape and murder of Stuart Lubock, 31, who was found dead in the pool at his Roydon home after a drug-fuelled party in 2001.

He was released without charge, and claims the arrest destroyed his career.

But last year, the Court of Appeal ruled Essex Police was only liable to pay him nominal damages of £1.

Piers' interview with the TV host isn't the only interview sure to hit the headlines, as his chat with Spice Girl Mel B has already caused a huge stir, after she confessed to bedding bandmate Geri Horner.

He is also set to interview his arch nemesis Lord Alan Sugar on his hit show, alongside Michael Parkinson and Harry Redknapp.

Speaking of his interview, Sugar said: “I know he’ll try to make me cry but he’s got more chance of becoming Pope.

"Morgan talks a great game but can’t walk it, as viewers will discover with this interview.”
