Met Police Taskforce officer charged with rape

A Met Police officer has been charged with rape.

PC James Brown will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 9 after being charged with one count of rape on February 2.

The offence he is accused of took place in January 2025 in Southwark when the officer was off duty.

He was arrested less than three months later on April 2 but released on bail as enquiries were conducted.

PC Brown was attached to the Met Taskforce, a unit of the Metropolitan Police dedicated to tackling violent crime, knife crime, and public disorder.

He has since been suspended and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been made aware.
