Met officer sacked for sending abusive messages at end of relationship

A Met Police officer who sent her ex threatening messages when they broke up has been fired from the force.

Sergeant Cheryl Webber, attached to the Met unit covering Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley, sent abusive, threatening and intimidating messages to her ex and repeatedly contacted them.

A gross misconduct probe heard that she also caused damage to a car.

Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry said: “There is no place for this type of behaviour within the Met and it is right that this officer has had to take responsibility for her actions.

“The Commissioner has been clear that we are doubling down on standards in order to make the Met an organisation that Londoners and our own people are proud of.”

Sgt Webber was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct.

She will now be placed on the College of Policing barred list meaning she cannot serve as a police officer while she is on the list.
