Met Office Wales weather forecast for Monday as Storm Dennis wind and rain lingers

Wales has been well and truly battered by Storm Dennis this weekend.

Town centres have been submerged, roads and railway lines have been flooded, and landslides have taken place as a second successive weekend of severe weather got the half term break off to a wet and windy start.

And the disruption will continue through the remainder of Sunday and into Monday morning with a yellow weather warning in place for wind until 11am on Monday.

People have been warned to expect some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport with some journeys taking longer. Some short-term loss of power and other services is also possible in the morning.

And another concern, with the ground already saturated in many places after Storm Ciara last week followed by Dennis this weekend, will be that rain is predicted for much of the coming week. This is how the week ahead looks.

Sunday night

According to the Met Office it will remain very windy overnight.

It will be a chilly with showers gradually becoming less frequent during the second half of the night.

The minimum temperature will be 1°C.

Monday

Monday will see another day of frequent showers and the morning will be a wet and windy start.

There is a yellow warning in place for wind until 11am in most parts of Wales including Cardiff and Swansea. The showers will ease for the afternoon with sunny spells developing.

Southern areas will probably see the heaviest of the showers, particularly in the morning.

However the wind will gradually ease throughout the day but the showers may continue into the evening. Maximum temperature 9°C.

Tuesday

Scattered blustery showers will continue through to Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday

Further rain will arrive from the east on Wednesday and Thursday and it will also be another windy day.
