Met Office issues warning for Liverpool with 'severe gales' to hit this weekend

Liverpool is experiencing some cooler temperatures this week, with lows of just 2C predicted later in the week.

Anyone heading outside needs to wrap up warm, but it's not just the cold we need to be aware of.

The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for the weekend ahead.

The weather warning covers Scotland and much of the North of England on Friday, but will sweep down to cover almost the entire country by Saturday.

It is expected to cause travel disruption in some areas including delays on roads across the region and to public transport, with gales of up to 40mph.

People are warned to expect delays to road, rail, air and ferry traffic, as well a "small" chance of damage to buildings, and some roads closing.

The Met Office forecast for the North West on Saturday (November 27) said: "Windy for many over the weekend with a risk of severe gales.

"Many places will see a mixture of sunshine, showers and longer periods of rain which could turn wintry, mainly over hills in the north. Overnight frost and patchy ice likely where skies are clear."

Lows of 4C, with a real feel of 0C, are expected - with highs of just 6C.
