Met Office issue weather warning for snow in West Lothian until Wednesday night

There are weather warnings in place in West Lothian for the next three days.

The Met Office has issued three yellow warning today, Tuesday and Wednesday for snow in the county.

The warnings came into place at midnight and will remain in place until 11.59pm on Wednesday (February 10).

Residents are advised to clear pathways and driveways and to follow the Met Office snow code.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Small chance of longer travel delays in places with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

“Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.”

“There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off and a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.”

The snow is predicted to stop by Wednesday but sub zero tempratures will continue until Friday, leaving icy conditions underfoot.

West Lothian Council are advising residents to keep their homes warm this week.

A spokesperson said: "It will be bitterly cold in the days ahead with some frosty and icy nights.

"In West Lothian it will remain very cold all week with temperatures as low as minus 6 on some days.

"There's more rain and snow in the forecast too. One of the things you can do is to make sure your home is prepared."
