Met Office forecast severe gale-force winds as Merseyside to be battered by rain again

High winds are expected to hit Merseyside throughout the day as the Met Office predicts more rain.

The severe gale-force winds will continue through today and well into tomorrow (Tuesday, November 12).

Forecasts of heavy rain also continue following torrential downpours across the UK that has led to devastating flooding.

Merseyside has escaped flood warnings, but we should brace for two days of continuous rain as we move into mid-week.

Today, there could be a few sunny breaks in the clouds, but showers are expected this evening, getting heavier and more persistent tomorrow.

Temperatures will feel slightly milder than over the weekend as they reach highs of 8°C, but it may feel more like 3°C due to the chilly winds.

Winds from the west will sweep across the region at around 27mph, but it is the gusts that could catch many off guard as they reach highs of 49mph tomorrow morning.

They are expected to die down in the early hours of Wednesday morning as we head to a more settled period of weather.

But that will mean temperatures will drop a little and the end of the week will be quite bitter, feeling like just 1°C at times.
