Met Office forecast 'potentially thundery' rain all day in Liverpool

The Met Office has forecast "potentially thundery" rain for Liverpool on Sunday.

While winds will gradually ease down, there will still be some showers around.

From 10am to 9pm, it is expected the city will be hit by rain, with the occasional sunny spell.

The Met Office expects showers through the morning will become more organised around lunchtime, potentially turning heavy and thundery at times.

But balmy temperatures can still be expected, with highs of 18C predicted.

It looks like the bad weather is set to continue as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Tuesday and Wednesday.

A spell of strong winds is likely to develop across the southwest of England and Wales on Tuesday morning, before spreading east across other parts of England and Wales overnight, clearing into the North Sea on Wednesday afternoon.

Gusts of wind are likely to exceed 50 mph for quite a few places, with exposed coasts and hills seeing gusts in excess of 60 mph.

Whilst not exceptional, winds this strong are unusual for August, with possible transport disruption and impacts on outdoor activities.
