Met Eireann's grim weekend forecast for Dublin with heavy rain and blustery conditions to hit

Met Eireann has forecast wet, blustery conditions that will impact much of the country including Dublin this weekend.

The next few days will enjoy some winter sun but the national forecaster said wet and windy weather with subzero temperatures will grip the country. The mercury is set to plummet to a freezing -1 degree next week.

It'll be a chilly start this morning, mostly dry weather with sunny spells. There will be a shower or two during the morning, turning cloudier through the afternoon and staying quite breezy with highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees.

According to Met Eireann forecasters, from next week the weather will return to "normal for November" with cooler conditions. A forecaster said: "Showers with good dry periods. Temperatures returning to normal for late November next week.

Friday night

"Dry for much of tonight under mostly cloudy skies. Becoming windy near dawn with southerly winds increasing fresh to strong, as outbreaks of rain develops. Lowest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees.

Saturday

"Windy tomorrow with strong southerly winds, easing somewhat during the afternoon. A dull or misty day with outbreaks of rain, although there will be good dry periods during the afternoon. There will be heavy rain in the evening. Milder than normal for the time of year, with highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees.

Saturday night

"Outbreaks of rain will be heavy in places early in the night, but will clear eastwards before midnight. The rest of the night will be dry for most aside from a few showers. Southwest winds largely easing light to moderate, remaining fresh or strong along Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Sunday

"Good dry and bright periods for most areas although there will be occasional showers, mainly in Atlantic counties. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with moderate southerly breezes.

Sunday night

"Most areas will be dry and clear, with isolated showers near coasts. Near calm conditions will allow areas of mist or fog to form. A touch of frost is possible, with lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Monday

"Fog likely in the morning, slowly lifting for a mainly dry day with sunny spells. Well scattered showers will feed into Atlantic areas in a light northwest airflow. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. Monday night is currently looking to be cold, clear and frosty, with lows of -1 to 4 degrees, although there is some uncertainty yet."
