Met Eireann’s forecast lately has been an unwelcome washout, with rain and thunderstorms expected throughout the week.
As the days go on, however, the Irish forecaster has confirmed where and when we can expect a return of some summer sunshine.
Heading into Tuesday, showery and cloudy conditions are expected at their worst across the western half of the country.
These conditions will spread eastwards during the course of the day with the best chance of any sunny intervals across the northeast of the island.
Wednesday will see a fair amount of clouds and outbreaks of rain or drizzle in the morning as well as some showers in the afternoon and evening.
There will be some sunny intervals as well, especially in the west later in the evening.
Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 20 degrees, with the best of the sunny weather in Donegal.
It’ll be coolest along the west coast and warmest in the east with light to moderate northwest breezes.
The whole country is in for some great weather on Thursday according to the forecast, although the Northeast will be in for more rain.
Bright or sunny spells are expected in most areas, with a few showers developing in Ulster and Leinster.
Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees are expected in light westerly or variable breezes.
Friday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle in the west which will move eastwards.
Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees with light variable breezes. Donegal and Wexford are in or another day filled with sunshine on Friday with temperatures hitting 18C.
The current outlook for the weekend says “Saturday and Sunday will bring sunny spells and scattered showers with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees and light winds.”
