Mesut Ozil speaks of 'huge respect' for Arsene Wenger in emotional post to Arsenal legend

Mesut Ozil has spoken of his 'huge respect' for Arsene Wenger as the football world came together to celebrate his successes.

The Frenchman was inducted into the Legends of Football Hall of Fame on Monday evening after enjoying 22 years in North London with the Gunners.

During that time he won he won three Premier League titles and an impressive seven FA Cups.

One of his biggest signings in his latter years at the club was that of Mesut Ozil.

The German playmaker was central to his side's attacking play and a known admirer of Wenger's approach to playing the beautiful game.

After being inducted into the Legends of Football Hall of Fame, Ozil posted a heartfelt message to his former manager.

He said: "Congrats on this award, Mon. Wenger. Well deserved.

"Thanks again for everything you've done for me and the whole Arsenal family.

"You have huge respect for the beautiful game and we'll always have huge respect for you."

The Frenchman is yet to take up another role in football since his departure from Arsenal, but he hinted at a potential technical role with FIFA: “To share what I have learned in the game. Maybe with FIFA, yes," he said.

"World football has a huge responsibility now and if I can help a little bit, why not?”
