Cabaret star Meow Meow subverts Hans Christian Anderson’s mermaid tale in her second instalment of the “little trilogy”. Following her twist on Anderson’s Little Match Girl, performed in Melbourne and London, she tears up the Little Mermaid’s tale of sacrifice and salvation, and puts it back together for a seductive sea ride.
It’s an un-Disney cabaret, as she explores a land of altered hearts, minds and body parts through sea shanties. Directed by Michael Kantor, the musical sensation will journey through Titanic hymns and contemporary hits with help from the Siren Effect Orchestra.
