Men waiting in McDonald's car park shot in 'targeted attack'

One of the victims of the shooting overnight.

Two men are in hospital this morning after they were shot while sitting in a ute in a McDonald's car park in Sydney's west.

Police said the men were in the silver ute in Merrylands when another man approached holding a gun just after midnight and fired several shots into their car.

Both men were hit, but they managed to drive a short distance to a nearby petrol station before paramedics were called.

The two men were taken to hospital and are in a stable condition this morning.

It is understood it was a targeted attack.

The gunman was wearing a black hoodie and was last spotted running through nearby Granville Park.

Police are urging anyone with any information to contact them.
