‘Men are gonna tip you more’: Arizona Twin Peaks worker tries to hide her pregnancy. Viewers are encouraging her not to

At restaurants like Twin Peaks, where uniforms and appearance are part of the brand, pregnancy can add a complicated layer to the job.

The chain, known for its revealing outfits and “mountain lodge meets sports bar” theme, relies heavily on its servers’ image, which can make body changes like pregnancy feel tricky to navigate.

One Arizona Twin Peaks server, Jay (@jay.baizel), went viral showing herself “hiding” her pregnancy in a video that’s been viewed more than 19.4 million times.

In the clip, Jay films herself getting ready for work in the chain’s signature outfit, the red-and-black checkered crop top and short denim bottoms.

“When you’re 4 months pregnant but you work at Twin Peaks,” the on-screen text reads. As she buttons her shorts, she subtly tries to hold her belly in.

Commenters Tell Her Not to Hide

The comments section quickly filled with support from other women, including former Twin Peaks employees who’ve been in her shoes.

“I seen the Twin Peaks maternity uniform, it’s sooo cute to me,” one person wrote.

Another encouraged her not to stress about her appearance, saying, “Believe me, men are gonna tip you more once they see you’re pregnant.”

Not everyone was on board, though. “That’s not safe,” one commenter said, referring to her wearing tight clothes while pregnant.

Others shared stories of their own time working through pregnancy at Twin Peaks. “I worked literally till I went into labor,” one former employee said. “I had to wear the maternity top and honestly made more money being pregnant.”

Another wrote, “They made me wear my maternity uniform at 10 weeks pregnant.”

Someone else recalled, “Once me and another server got pregnant pretty close together and our manager told us we were making the place trashy.”

Jay replied to that one directly: “Yeah that’s crazy, I’m like God forbid I work there and start a family??”

Can You Work at Twin Peaks While Pregnant?

Under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, employers are prohibited from discriminating against workers based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. In theory, that protection extends to service jobs like those at Twin Peaks.

Still, that doesn’t always mean things play out smoothly. In the past, some servers have claimed they were pushed out of roles after gaining weight during pregnancy or denied accommodations to adjust uniforms. One woman even filed a lawsuit alleging she was denied employment after becoming visibly pregnant.

However, not all experiences are negative. Many former employees, including those who commented on Jay’s video, say Twin Peaks does provide maternity versions of its uniform and allows workers to continue as long as they feel comfortable. Several TikToks even show pregnant Twin Peaks servers proudly wearing the maternity tops while still serving tables.

Is It Dangerous to Wear Tight Clothing While Pregnant?

According to experts, it can be.

Health site OnlyMyHealth warns that tight jeans and restrictive clothing during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester, can cause several issues. As your belly grows, your body needs space to expand and circulate blood properly.

Dr. Dharaskar, cited in the report, notes that tight waistbands can increase intra-abdominal pressure, which might lead to heartburn, indigestion, or general discomfort. Restricted circulation could also contribute to swelling, varicose veins, or nerve compression in the thighs.

There are also hygiene risks. Tight, non-breathable fabrics can trap heat and moisture, increasing the risk of yeast infections, which are more common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes.
