Meghan Markle will be staying away from King Charles' Coronation to avoid 'media circus'

Meghan Markle will be hoping to avoid "the media circus" by staying away from the Coronation of King Charles III, according to a PR expert.

It's been confirmed Prince Harry will be attending the historic event, but the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

It has been reported that Archie's birthday has played a factor in the decision for Meghan to remain at home.

A PR expert said the royal couple play "an active role" in their children's upbringing which could explain why Meghan has decided to stay away.

Speaking to The Mirror, Mayah Riaz said: "The Coronation does fall on Prince Archie's 4th birthday and this has likely played a factor to Meghan staying in California with Archie and Lilibet.

"We know that the Duke and Duchess take an active role in their children's upbringing and, therefore, prioritise family time including birthday celebrations."

The leading publicity expert also suggested Meghan could be trying to avoid the huge media presence.

"Another factor to Meghan not attending could be due to the media circus surrounding the couple if they did attend together.

"Their mere presence would be a huge distraction from the Coronation itself. We know this from just the speculation of whether they have been invited," Mayah said.

"If they did both attend the Coronation, it is without doubt that there would be countless coverage of where they stayed, their seating arrangement, what they wore (include whether Harry wore Military uniform), who they did and did not speak to etc.

"This would be the case despite how lowkey and short they try to keep their attendance. It is possible that this has played a part in the decision."

Despite suggestions Prince Harry's trip to the UK will only be a whistle stop, his attendance at the Coronation could show that his relationship with the Royal Family is on the mend.

Mayah said: "It is great news that Harry will be there to see his father be crowned at King.

"The attendance of Prince Harry to his father's Coronation shows that relations may not be as strained as speculated.

"Harry wrote in his book Spare that there was a lot to be discussed and certain things had to happen before he decided whether to attend the Coronation.

"There's no confirmation of any conversations having taken place. But it is fair to speculate that there has been some sort of resolution based on what he wrote in his book, as his attendance has now been confirmed."
