Meghan Markle's clever move away from Royals 'positions herself as inspirational figure'

Meghan Markle has cleverly "circumnavigated herself away from the Royal Family and Coronation scrutiny" and drawn the focus back on to herself this week as she "positions herself as an inspirational figure", according to an expert.

Nick Ede, a brand and culture expert, believes Meghan expertly let the focus remain on the Coronation and the Royal Family while she stayed in California, US, with her two children.

And with the ceremony passing, Meghan has been able to draw the attention back to herself and causes closest to her heart, by being spotted with Hollywood stars, young people and tonight an appearance at an awards ceremony with a Black Lives Matter leader.

On Monday, Harry and Meghan met a group of young people from a Santa Barbara youth group to discuss mental health.

And later on tonight, Meghan will be in New York to collect a 'Women of Vision' award, where she will be described as "one of the most powerful and influential women in the world". She will collect an award for being a "feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model."

She will receive the gong from activist Gloria Steinem in honour of her "global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls."

Black Lives Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown is also set to receive the top prize as the pair will be welcomed as "incredible leaders" with "many accomplishments and tireless work on behalf of gender and racial equity across the country and the world."

Mr Ede said: "Meghan's positioning herself as an inspirational figure, which she is to many, and she's doing what she does best: highlighting causes whilst highlighting herself."

The brand expert claimed Meghan, 41, deliberately kept her profile low while Prince Harry released his 'Spare' memoir, in a bid to distance herself from the royals.

He told Mail Online: "Meghan has cleverly circumnavigated herself away from the Royal Family and Coronation scrutiny and got all eyes on her and what she's doing next."

Nick thinks Meghan is using her platform to highlight social causes and injustices while also remaining in the limelight, which allows her to give space from Harry in order to be recognised as her own person rather than the Duchess of Sussex.

Mr Ede previously suggested Meghan was potentially working on a project which would separate her from the royals and launch a new initiative which will allow her to stand alone.

He said before the Coronation: "I think she is most likely to announce a wellness space like The Tig or a new documentary series."

Meghan and Harry were spotted leaving a posh sushi restaurant in Montecito earlier this week with Hollywood superstar Cameron Diaz and her musician boyfriend Benji Madden.

Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Brad Falchuk were also said to be in attendance -with experts believing Meghan is working on her next project with them.
