Meghan Markle praised for ignoring 'snub' at Windsor Castle as crowd member 'refuses' handshake

Meghan Markle has received widespread praise from fans for the way she handled a snub' as she greeted crowds outside Windsor Castle, with one woman appeared to 'reject' a handshake from the Duchess of Sussex.

To the surprise and delight of many people who gathered at the Queen's famous residence, Meghan and husband Prince Harry joined his brother Prince William and wife Kate for a Royal walkabout on Saturday afternoon, to look at floral tributes left in honour of Her Majesty.

After walking towards crowds side by side, the new Prince and Princess of Wales and Duke and Duchess of Sussex talked to mourners on opposing side of the long drive, with Meghan making headlines across the world after embracing a teenage girl in the crowd who asked for a hug.

The teenager told US broadcaster CNN that she made the gesture to make Meghan "feel welcome," but, while the Duchess received a warm reception from the majority of people at Windsor, one woman picked up by TV cameras looked far from enamoured by her appearance on Saturday.

As she made her way along the security barrier, Meghan began shaking the hands of the people resting against it, but got the cold shoulder from a woman wearing navy who turned her head away from her, before laughing to the lady next to her.

Reacting to the moment that was seen by BBC and ITV viewers as live coverage aired, before a clip went viral online and siding with Meghan and how she dealt with the 'snub,' one twitter user posted: "Poor form, lady in blue. This reflects badly on you, not Meghan." Taking the same stance, a second responded: "At a time like this, that lady in blue is embarrassing. Meghan read her mood and moved on."

Others praised Meghan for the way she handled the whole situation, given the negativity directed at her in the press and on social media, with another tweeting: "Just shows the lady in blue has no class and isn’t any better than what she thinks about Meghan. The lady in blue could have stepped back knowing that Meghan was coming down the row. I don’t care for Meghan but I admire her for going knowing that she might get booed."

There has, however, been some support for the woman in question, who went unintentionally viral across the world, with one Twitter user championing her actions, writing: "After what Meghan has done the lady in blue had every right to express her personal opinion. It was not rude it was obviously justified to her, shows she is not a hypocrite unlike others."
