Meghan Markle is a 'role model for young women' after winning latest award

Meghan Markle is set to be honoured with another glitzy award stateside next month and it's said she is becoming more of a role model after a rollercoaster few months.

The Duchess of Sussex will receive a Women of Vision Award at a gala event in New York in May and it's likely to be a "huge boost" to her public image, according to a PR expert.

Meghan, 41, will accept the award after being recognised as a woman who has had a significant positive impact in her respective field.

And it's believed the award can go a long way to rebuilding her image, which for a while had seemingly been shattered.

After leaving the UK and the royal family, Meghan and her husband Prince Harry went on to give a number of bombshell TV interviews before Harry released his memoir titled Spare.

The duo made a number of huge accusations towards the royals and felt the backlash of the public - so much so they were ridiculed on adult animation South Park recently.

However, her latest accolade is one which can repair the fractures, according to PR expert Jordan James.

The CEO of Unlocked PR told The Express the recognition can work as a "lifeline" to the former actress and help to stop the rot of their reputation.

Jordan said: "It is sure to be a huge boost for her public image - which is in dire need of help. This award, which recognises women who have made a significant positive impact in their respective fields, will no doubt be seen by Markle as a major endorsement of her work and influence, and I imagine she hopes will go some way to improving her public image which has been marred by scandal after scandal as of late."

It can also make her more of a role model for young women all over the world in Jordan's opinion, who added: "Meghan’s fight for women’s equality and to empower women of colour is something that is often overlooked in favour of the more ‘juicy’ aspects of her royal drama, so I for one welcome the award for highlighting some of what she does and giving Meghan some more depth to her public image - as opposed to just being ‘that American Royal’."

It remains to be seen whether Meghan and Harry will attend the coronation of King Charles, with the duo said to have missed their RSVP deadline.
