Megan Stalter And Paul W. Downs Promoted On 'Hacks'

Variety exclusively reports Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs' promotion for 'Hacks' Season 3.

'Hacks' has announced the promotion of Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs to series regulars for Season 3, as reported exclusively by Variety. Downs portrays Jimmy Lusaque Jr., the manager of Deborah and Ava, while Stalter plays Kayla Schaeffer, Jimmy's assistant. Both actors have been part of the show since its first season on the Max comedy series.

Downs, in addition to his on-screen role, is heavily involved behind the scenes as the co-creator, co-showrunner, executive producer, writer, and director of 'Hacks.' His extensive experience includes starring in Comedy Central's 'Broad City,' writing, directing, and producing various projects, such as the film 'Rough Night' and the Netflix comedy 'Like Father.'

Stalter, on the other hand, can be currently seen in the Peacock comedy film 'Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.' Her television credits include appearances in 'Tooning Out the News' and 'Crank Yankers,' with upcoming roles in the film 'My Ex-Friend's Wedding' and as the lead in Lena Dunham's new Netflix series 'Too Much.'

The official synopsis for Season 3 of 'Hacks' teases a storyline where Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) enjoys the success of her stand-up special, while Ava (Hannah Einbinder) explores new opportunities in Los Angeles. The upcoming season will also feature Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo.

Although the premiere date for Season 3 has not been announced, it is expected to debut in spring 2024. 'Hacks' has been a critical success, garnering 32 Emmy nominations and six wins, including accolades for best writing for a comedy series and best actress in a comedy. The show's creators and executive producers include Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, with Downs and Aniello executive producing through their company Paulilu under a deal with Warner Bros. Television.

Statsky executive produces under First Thought Productions, while Michael Schur of Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morgan Sackett are also part of the executive producing team. Universal Television is the production company behind the hit series 'Hacks.'
