Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan

The Moroccan-Saudi joint committee will convene on Thursday at the ministerial level to sign agreements of bilateral cooperation.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan will hold talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, on bilateral relations and the regional and international developments, on the sidelines of the meetings.

The 13th session of the Moroccan-Saudi Joint Committee started on Wednesday at the level of senior officials and experts.

The meetings fall within the framework of consolidating relations of joint cooperation and following up on the implementation of recommendations of previous rounds, as well as presenting new work programs in areas of common interest.

Fouad Akhrif, Director of the Mashreq, Gulf and Arab Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the joint Moroccan-Saudi meetings “reflect the renewed dynamism between the two countries, under the patronage of Moroccan King Mohammed VI and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.”

Addressing reporters on Wednesday, the Moroccan official noted that senior officials and experts from both sides were expected to agree on a set of legal texts, agreements and recommendations to be presented on Thursday to the Ministerial Council.

For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Matar, Director-General of the Department for Arab-African Affairs at the Saudi Foreign Ministry, stressed in an opening speech on the occasion that the joint committee constituted a “strong basis in the distinguished relations between the two countries.”

“The convening of the current session is a clear indication of the two countries’ sincere desire to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields,” he emphasized.

The Saudi diplomat added that Saudi Arabia and Morocco have maintained continuous coordination and consultation at all levels, in an effort to achieve security, stability and prosperity for the peoples of the two countries.
