Meet Dylan Stephenson: The Newcastle United kid who grabbed first half hat-trick in FA Youth Cup

Newcastle United youngster Dylan Stephenson netted a first-half hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup against Leeds United this weekend.

The 18-year-old winger notched his seventh goal of the season after impressing in the Premier League Academy North division this term.

Since making his debut in 2019 for the youth team he has made 32 appearances, scored 13 times and made two assists.

The winger had caught the eye in pre-season two summers ago when he scored against Valencia in the Milk Cup tournament in Northern Ireland during a 2-1 defeat in the final showpiece.

Ashington-born Stephenson has made 12 appearances for the Under-23s after making his debut in the 1-0 win at Hull City in the Premier League Cup last season.

Stephenson can also operate as a centre-forward and showed his potency against the Yorkshire club to help book a place in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.

His efforts set up a fifth round date with Watford, in a game which will be played at St James' Park.

Newcastle Academy chiefs have high hopes for fellow teenagers Elliot Anderson and Joe White, but Stephenson earned his place in the limelight after a great display in the sunshine against Leeds.

Stephenson and his team-mates will now get another chance to impress against the Hornets.
