McDonald’s has shaken up its rewards scheme by adding a new points milestone.
Fast food fans get one point for every penny they spend through MyMcDonald’s Rewards.
When a certain points milestone is reached, customers can redeem their points for an eligible menu item.
Under the old rules, the highest milestone tier you could reach was 4,000 points - and you could use this to redeem products such as a Big Mac or Chicken McNuggets.
From today, a new milestone of 5,500 points has been introduced - which can be used to claim a Mighty McMuffin, McSpicy, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese or a McCrispy.
New items have also been added to the rewards app from today.
Customers can now also redeem a regular Cold Soft Drink, an Apple Pie or Filet-O-Fish when they reach certain milestones.

McDonald’s fans receive points if they are signed up to, and order from, the MyMcDonald’s app.
Alternatively, customers can get a one-time code at drive-thrus, kiosks or counters which they can manually enter into the app.
The news comes after McDonald's added six new items to its menu last month (June 21) including the Biscoff McFluffy.
This features crumbled Biscoff biscuit pieces and Biscoff sauce served over classic McFlurry ice cream.
The Biscoff McFlurry is available now and costs £1.99, or £1.49 for a smaller version.
What food can I claim through MyMcDonald's Rewards?
When 1,500 points have been collected, customers can choose between the following items:
- Small Fries
- Mini McFlurry
- Regular McCafe
- Side Salad
- Hash Brown
- Regular McCafé
- Regular Cold Soft Drink
- £1.50 donation to charity
When 2,500 points have been collected, customers can redeem one of the following:
- Double Cheeseburger
- Bacon Mayo Chicken
- Vegetable Deluxe
- Cheesy Bacon Flatbread
- Medium Fries
- Apple Pie
- £2.50 donation to charity
When customers have collected 4,000 points, the following items can be redeemed:
- 6 Chicken McNuggets
- Big Mac
- McChicken Sandwich
- Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin
- Premium Salad
- Filet-O-Fish
- McPlant
- £4 donation to charity
When customers have collected 5,500 points, the following items can be redeemed:
Mighty McMuffin
McSpicy
Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese
McCrispy
