May Bank Holiday payment dates for benefits in Northern Ireland

People in Northern Ireland whose benefits are to be paid on Monday should still get what they are due by that date, the Department for Communities has said.

The next payment date falls on May Day Monday, May 2, which is a bank holiday.

However, DfC has said anyone due benefits on that date will receive their payment as normal.

This covers recipients of payments including:

  • Child benefit
  • Tax credit (both child tax credit and working tax credit)
  • Universal Credit
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • State pension
  • Pension credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payments

If your expected payment date does not fall on a bank holiday, you should get your payment as normal.

While benefits in NI operate on different systems "you will not receive your payment later than the date it would normally be due" they said.
