Maxx Williams returns to practice for Cardinals; several players get day off Monday

The Arizona Cardinals got a starter back on the field in practice. Starting tight end Maxx Williams, who had missed the last two weeks of training camp practices, was seen back on the field on Monday during the open part of practice.

Williams had been out, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, due to “general soreness” and “some lingering issues.” He also had said previously he wasn’t worried about the missed time, as Williams would be fine by the start of the season, which is coming in under two weeks.

His return is likely part of why the team felt comfortable released undrafted rookie tight end Ryan Beck on Sunday.

Several players appeared to get the day off on Monday.

Receiver DeAndre Hopkins, receiver Larry Fitzgerald (it is his 37th birthday), defensive tackle Corey Peters and tackle Kelvin Beachum appeared to have the day off, while running back Kenyan Drake is still out.
