Max George claps back with rude gesture at Ulrika Johnson after she took aim at Strictly girlfriend Maisie Smith

Max George has made his feelings clear as he clapped back at Ulrika Johnson over her recent assessment of his girlfriend Maise Smith. Over the weekend, the TV presenter slammed the former EastEnders star after she concerned fans with a video of herself crying on social media.

Ulrika labelled the video as ‘self-indulgent’, saying ‘it stinks of boy that cried wolf’. Writing in her column in The Sun, the 55-year-old wrote: "She ensured it was a close-up, so we could actually see the very real tears rolling down her face. Very dramatic."

The 20-second clip showed Maisie shedding tears as she was comforted by her dog. The 21-year-old, who starred in the BBC One soap for more than 10 years as Tifanny Butcher, posted the video along with the words "you didn’t deserve me" from the song Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me) by Omar Apollo.

Viewers of the video were quick to flock to the comments section with worries for her relationship with The Wanted star Max, despite Maisie writing in the caption: "Nothing but happiness these days." And the new, loved-up couple, who met through Strictly Come Dancing, were quick to shut down speculation of a split.

The pair then put on a glowing, tanned display in a new Instagram post. Max and Maisie posed up a storm in photos posted to both their Instagram pages. While it appears Maisie was the one to originally share the images despite them also appearing as a joint post on Max's main grid, she captioned the snap: "Baecation."

On the video, Ulrika continued in her column: "Now, Maisie’s not the first sleb to engage in this kind of attention-seeking nonsense and I doubt she’ll be the last. What I can’t comprehend is why people feel the need to show they are capable of crying." Admitting she would cry at an advert on telly, she added: "I certainly can’t imagine reaching for my phone mid-personal drama to ensure I captured my tearful moment for people to see."

Days on and Max has now responded with a simple, yet quite rude, gesture to the former Gladiators host. The singer, 34, defiantly stuck up his middle finger in a new snap posted on his Instagram Stroy and wrote: "Just for you Ulrika." It showed him pulling the move in a lift, appearing to be back from her recent break from Cyrpus with Maisie and her family.

Meanwhile, Maisie revealed earlier this week that her new man was her 'childhood crush'. The actress, who is currently satrring on stage in Strictly Ballroom, was nine when The Wanted released their first single in 2010 and Max shot to fame alongside Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes and the late Tom Parker.

Taking part in a viral TikTok trend on Monday, Maisie was seen leaping into Max's arms as he lay on the sofa before the pair packed on the PDA. Text on the screen over the video read: "You're in a room with your boyfriend, your celebrity crush and your childhood crush... Who you running to?" Maisie was then seen running across the room before jumping onto a stunnned Max before she showered him with kisses.
