Max Clark addresses Liverpool transfer rumours as defender makes surprise Anfield admission

Vitesse left-back Max Clark has responded to the transfer rumours linking him to Anfield and admitted it is nice to be linked with the European Champions.

The former Hull City defender emerged as a potential Reds target at the end of last month, with the suggestion he would be a back-up option to Andy Robertson.

And while Clark was seemingly flattered by the rumours.

"Friends sent it to me, but I can tell you it is just rumours," Clark told Omroep Gelderland.

"In football everyone is confronted with rumours, you have to deal with that.

"It’s nice to be linked to them. I think everyone would be happy with these teams. It’s great, but it’s rumours."

However, the 23-year-old revealed he had no desire to leave Holland for Merseyside.

"I don’t want to play there either, because I want to go into Europe with Vitesse. So I don’t do anything with it.

"It’s fun for my family and friends, but I’ll let them enjoy it. But I leave it behind, because I want to stay here."

Clark left Hull in the summer of 2018 after failing to agree a new contract and has impressed since moving to the Eredivisie.

The defender only has 18 months left on his contract but the ECHO understands that the left-back is not on Liverpool's radar at present.
