Mauricio Pochettino responds to claims he could replace Pep Guardiola at Man City

Mauricio Pochettino refused to address rumours he could take over from Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, saying "I don't read too much".

Guardiola has never managed the same club for five consecutive seasons and is currently in his fourth year at Manchester City.

There are concerns this could be his final season at City, and the board is looking at possible replacements as part of a contingency plan, in case their worst fears become reality.

Mikel Arteta leaving his post as Guardiola's assistant at Man City to become the new Arsenal manager has also thrown a spanner in the works.

Pochettino, who managed Tottenham for five years prior to being sacked this season, is one of the names in mix to potentially replace Guardiola.

Pochettino refused to comment on the speculation.

"To be honest, I don't read too much. I didn't read before and I don't know, I'm lucky now because I have Jesus with me and he reads it all for me," said Pochettino.

"He sees some news that he translates for me, but I trust him of course 200 per cent and I don't need to read. I didn't read before and I don't now."

On returning to management in either the Premier League or abroad, he added: "Of course I love the Premier League.

"The English fans and if not the best, the it's one of the best leagues in the world and for a any manager it's very exciting to be involved in the Premier League.

"But it's not just the Premier League, there's other leagues, different clubs which can be exciting and can give you a challenge that is maybe different.

"Now it is true that we have not had time to think about the future, but now is a time to think about ourselves, to make sure you are ready and that's the key point to be ready when something happens.

"To be more prepared, prepare yourself to be ready for a club that wants you to make sure you can give them the best of you."
