Matthew Stafford's Wife Says Veteran QB Will Return to Rams in 2024

Matthew Stafford isn't ready to call it quits on his NFL career just yet.

Stafford's 2023 season unfortunately came to an end quicker than he would have liked in his return to Ford Field, where he spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions, on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Rams were bested by the Lions by a score of 24—23 in the wild-card round matchup despite a valiant effort from Stafford, who threw for 367 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the loss.

Evidently, Stafford must feel like the Rams have unfinished business, as his wife revealed that he will be back with the team for the 2024 season in a post to her account on Instagram.

"Already excited for this Rams team next season. And he will be back next year Detroit, but until then, go get you one," Stafford's wife wrote. While speaking to reporters after Los Angeles's loss, Stafford himself informed reporters that his "plan right now" is to return.

Retirement speculation surrounded Stafford after his 2022 season was cut short by neck and concussion issues, but he authored an impressive rebound year in 2023, throwing for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while helping the Rams, a team many expected to struggle, clinch a playoff berth.

Healthy and still playing at a high level, Stafford figures to have the Rams in the hunt once again in 2024.
