Matthew Perry’s assistant faces sentencing for role in actor’s ketamine death

  • Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew Perry 's personal assistant, is due to be sentenced for his role in the actor's drug-related death.
  • Iwamasa pleaded guilty in August 2024 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death.
  • Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of three years and five months for Iwamasa, which is significantly less than what he might have faced without cooperating, but still more than all but one of his co-defendants.
  • Iwamasa was employed by Perry in 2022 and lived at the star’s Los Angeles home. The assistant is believed to have injected Perry with ketamine six to eight times per day towards the end of his life.
  • Perry died in October 2023 from acute ketamine effects, with drowning as a secondary factor, shortly after Iwamasa administered a large dose and left him to run errands.
