Matt Patricia has long odds to win NFL Coach of the Year

There are two ways to look at the latest NFL Coach of the Year betting odds if you’re a Detroit Lions fan. If you believe in Matt Patricia and his ability to turn around the Lions in his second season at the helm, they’re an incredible investment opportunity.

On the flip side, if you’re one who thinks he’s in over his head and will never get the job done, the odds appear in your favor.

Patricia is tied with three other coaches for the lowest odds offered by Bovada to win the NFL Coach of the Year award. Along with Jay Gruden (Redskins), Pat Shurmur (Giants) and Brian Flores (Dolphins), Patricia sits at +5000. That offers a tremendous payback if Patricia can capture the award.

Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens has the best odds at +650, reflective of the considerable hype surrounding this week’s Lions preseason foe. In the NFC North, Packers rookie coach Matt LaFleur and Bears head man Matt Nagy are each at +2000, while Minnesota’s Mike Zimmer is at +2800.
