Five years after its Royal Shakespeare Company premiere in London, comedian Tim Minchin and writer Dennis Kelly’s stage version of Roald Dahl’s Matilda has arrived in Australia.

The multi-award–winning musical tells the story of Matilda, a eight-year old girl with a miraculous gift for reading and a sharp imagination. She dares to take a stand against her cruel family and school principal, and change her fate.

The musical has won 50 major international awards, including 12 for best musical. Currently running in London’s West End and on Broadway, the musical is charming audiences with its rebellious and optimistic songs such as Naughty and When I Grow Up.
