Master Chef judge Greg Wallace reveals kebab takeaways are his healthy-eating secret

Master Chef judge and grocer Greg Wallace is known for putting contestants through the mill based on their culinary expertise, but he has now revealed that rather than a Michelin star dish, a good old Shish kebab is his healthy-eating secret.

Although the star has spent the last 19 years judging contestants on meals worthy of top restaurants. the 55-year-old, known on the show for his sweet tooth, rates a kebab at the top of his list for one of the healthiest meals to eat, and regularly tucks into a takeaway.

He told the Daily Star Sunday, "The healthiest thing you can have is a kebab. A shish kebab is lean meat grilled without fat and then bread without butter and then vegetables."

"It's one one of the healthiest takeaways I've ever seen," he added.

The foodie, who has hosted the gruelling talent show alongside chef John Torode since 2005 and also judges on Masterchef: The Professionals also had some surprising advice to share.

"I regularly have a takeaway. If someone asked me what they should have, I'd tell them to have the one they like the most. no-one can tell you what you like is wrong."

The unexpected but easy diet seems to be working for the TV star who looked like a new man after slimming down to under 13 stone by January this year, after the birth of his baby boy with pastry chef wife AnnE-marie, 32, in April 2018.

Greg, who also has 25-year-old Tom and 23-year-old Libby from a previous marriage has admitted fears of being an old dad and took up a new extreme exercise regime, including swimming and heavy weight training, while cutting out fry ups.
