Massive Edinburgh A71 queues causing travel chaos as six days of disruption expected

Drivers are being warned to expect massive queues on the busy A71 heading in and out of Edinburgh for the rest of the week.

Photographs reveal the extent of the tailbacks on the westbound route near Dalmahoy.

The delays are being caused by BT works which are taking place from today (Tuesday, August 17) and continuing for the next six days.

Twitter user @Matty_TEE shared two aerial photos showing the delays drivers should be expecting if using the route.

The council-run Edinburgh Travel News added: "Dalmahoy Road. BT work to be aware of over the next six days (from today 17th Aug)."

Lothian Buses issued a service alert during Tuesday rush hour to say their X27 and X28 buses were experiencing delays.

They added: "Due to roadworks buses are being delayed in the A71 Dalmahoy area in both directions."
