Mass shooter downed by cops seconds after opening fire and injuring nine in Tucson

A suspected mass shooter was taken down by cops after he opened fire and injured nine people in Tucson, Arizona, surveillance footage shows.

David Leroy French, 21, appeared to opened fire down East Congress Street near Sixth Avenue before fleeing as bystanders ran for cover. Eight seconds later, officers arrived and shot French, who fell to the ground.

Tucson Police Department reported that the 19 July shooting stemmed from a confrontation between two groups who knew each other.

French was charged with nine counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, nine counts of aggravated assault causing serious physical injury, and one count of discharging a firearm at a structure.
