A massive volcano eruption on Hawaii's eponymous island, commonly called the "Big Island", has forced 1,700 people to be evacuated from their homes.
Lava flows are threatening residential areas close to Mount Kilauea - one of the most active volcanoes in the world - after it erupted on Thursday afternoon local time.
