Mason Mount has already said how he’ll deal with Kai Havertz competition at Chelsea

Chelsea have had a busy transfer window so far.

Frank Lampard has brought six new faces to the club ahead of the restart of the Premier League season as the Blues look to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner were early additions to the squad, and have since been joined by Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and most recently Kai Havertz.

Chelsea have been locked in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over the midfielder for some weeks with an eventual agreement of £72 million plus £18 million in potential add-ons being reached.

When Kai Havertz could join up with the Chelsea squad

Havertz signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, and while his arrival has gone down well with Chelsea fans, reports suggest that one Chelsea player is not happy.

According to Bild , Mason Mount is not pleased with the increased competition that has come with the new arrival in his position.

Mount has established himself as first choice in the attacking midfield role for Lampard last season, but now could find his place in the starting lineup under threat by Havertz’s arrival.

But speaking back in January, Mount has explained how he will approach the challenge brought about by Havertz signing.

“For me, it's about having that same attitude I have had since I was six and making sure I never lose it,” he told the Daily Mail .

“You just have to fight. You know Chelsea can always buy £60million or £70m or £80m players that are world-class. They want to come here and take my place.

“Just because I am an academy boy and young, that doesn't mean anything. But the mentality I have means I won't be pushed over easily. I will fight for my position and keep working hard. At a club as big as Chelsea you have to have that mentality. It always stuck with me. It's why I am here in the first place.”

Mount played a total of 53 games in all competitions last season and will be hoping to reach a similar number in the upcoming campaign.
