Saudi Arabia side Al-Ettifaq are interested in a £10million move for Manchester United's Mason Greenwood, according to reports.
United confirmed on Monday that Greenwood will leave the club following a six-month investigation into allegations of attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.
Those charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this year. In a statement, the CPS said: “In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case.
“We have explained our decision to all parties. We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to police and we will prosecute wherever our legal test is met.”
United have confirmed it is in the best interests of both parties that Greenwood continues his career elsewhere.
The 21-year-old has two years left on his current £75,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford but will not play for the club again. Both loan exits and permanent deals are options before the summer transfer window closes next week.
The Sun claim that Al-Ettifaq, whose manager is Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and recently signed ex-Reds captain Jordan Henderson on a £700,000-a-week deal, have lodged their interest.
Other clubs in the Middle East could join the race, while Italian and Turkish sides are also keen.
