Mason Greenwood's FIFA 22 rating has been confirmed - and it's shockingly low

Manchester United's Mason Greenwood has received an upgrade to his FIFA 22 rating, but it's nowhere near as big as United fans would have expected.

The young forward has been a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side over the last three seasons, with the United player having already played 121 games for his club at only 19 years old.

Greenwood has also had an electric start to his 2021/22 season in the Premier League, with the forward having scored three goals already, appearing both down the right and through the middle as a striker before the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, despite his current ability and the potential Greenwood has shown, his performances haven't warranted a big upgrade from EA Sports.

The forward only increasing by one overall rating from FIFA 21, making him one of the lowest-rated players in the United squad - and compared to the ratings of some other Premier League players in his position, Greenwood's FIFA 22 rating seems extremely harsh.

Greenwood has been given a rating of 78 out of 100 on FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

Greenwood did receive boosts in his pace, passing, dribbling and physicality, but it's quite baffling how the 19-year-old saw no increase in his shooting - Greenwood's best attribute.

Following a campaign where he scored 12 goals in all competitions - seven more than fellow forward Antony Martial who is now rated 81 overall with better pace, dribbling and shooting, it's fair to say the rating is a big surprise.

How does his rating compare to other Premier League players in his position, though?

Greenwood is rated lower than Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, Leicester City's Harvey Barnes and Spurs' Lucas Moura - a trio of players that the 19-year-old is arguably better than, yet they're rated much higher in FIFA 22.

Saka had a good season for Arsenal last year and even earned himself a call-up to the England 2020 squad, resulting in a +5 increase to his card to 80 rated.

Harvey Barnes also had a good season but had a similar goal contribution to Greenwood, but the Leicester winger is three ratings above.

And Lucas Moura only grabbed eight goals last season, yet is three ratings higher than Greenwood.

In career mode on FIFA 21, Greenwood had a potential overall of 89 - one of the highest in the game, so it's very surprising to see EA gift him such a low rating after a strong campaign last season.

FIFA 22 will be available to play in just a couple of weeks, with the game's official release date being Friday, October 1, 2021. However, players who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the game can start playing from Monday, September 27, 2021.
