Masked raider brandished weapon during attempted robbery at Paisley shop

Police in Paisley are hunting a masked raider who attempted to rob a shop with a weapon.

The would-be robber entered Gallowhill Grocers around 4.30pm, with their face completely covered with a motorcycle helmet.

The brandished a weapon at terrified staff at the Gallowhill Road store and demanded cash from the till, before eventually fleeing the scene empty handed.

Police in Paisley are now looking to trace the suspect, who could be a man or a woman, and are asking anyone who was near to the shop on Gallowhill Road at the time to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The suspect did not manage to get away with any cash.

"They had there face fully covered with a motorcycle helmet so the description of the suspect is limited.

"I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time to please get in touch with us.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on  0800 555 111.
