Marylebone Christmas lights switch on 2018: When is it and who will be appearing?

One of the most luxurious areas of central London is transforming into a Winter wonderland this week, with the switching on of the Marylebone High Street Christmas lights.

The ceremony promises to bring a touch of festive glamour to the area, beginning a series of festive events that run until Christmas Eve.

The event will help mark the start of Christmas festivities in London. Here’s what you need to know.

When will the Marylebone lights be switched on?

The Christmas lights switching on ceremony will take place at 6pm on Wednesday 14, although there will be entertainment from 3.45pm.

Who is switching on the lights this year?

Roger Daltrey of The Who is the guest of honour at this year’s event. The musician will switch on the lights at 6pm.

Elsewhere, there will be entertainment from 3.45pm onwards, including children's choirs and Christmas card competitions.

Marylebone High Street will be fully pedestrianized from 3-7pm on the night.

The event kick starts Merry Marylebone Christmas, a six-week programme of events in the area hosted by 33 retailers, restaurants and hoteliers in Marylebone Village.

On November 22, there will be a range of events on offer at the shops on Marylebone Lane, including cocktail master classes, live music and gym master classes.
