The studio shared a new announcement on "Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls" official X account, alongside a teaser trailer, which details the upcoming open beta playtesting for fans and players worldwide.
It was revealed that the open beta will be available starting Friday, July 24, and will remain open for a total of 72 hours, with its next availability being its official release date.
Since its surprise reveal last year, Arc System Works has leaned heavily on player feedback to shape "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls," drawing on previous closed beta tests and convention feedback to refine the game ahead of launch.
That process has already led to improvements in character tagging mechanics and a steady stream of new character reveals, including a strongly received villain team featuring Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage.
With just weeks remaining before release, the open beta marks the most extensive public test yet for the fighting game. It will be available on both PS5 and PC, giving players across both platforms a full weekend to explore what Arc System Works has built heading into launch.
'Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' Open Beta Massive Content
According to GameRant, rather than limiting the beta to online matches, Arc System Works is unlocking most of the game's modes and content for players to try. This includes the Episode Mode, "MARVEL Tōkon's" single-player experience that blends comic book style storytelling with playable fights.
During the beta, players will be able to experience the first three chapters centered on Spider-Man's Amazing Guardians team.
Online Casual and Ranked modes will also be available, continuing what players experienced during previous closed betas.
New to this test is the Lobby system, which lets players choose from 16 unique avatars to explore an open lobby featuring miniature versions of the game's stages. There will also be various arcade cabinets to play through, similar to systems found in other Arc System Works titles like "Guilty Gear Strive."
For players who prefer to ease into the game before jumping online, Training Mode will be available as well. This leverages adjustable settings for training dummies and gauge levels to help players learn the game's 4v4 combat systems, alongside additional local and offline options.
'Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' Open Beta Available Characters
The open beta will also feature the largest character roster tested so far, with 15 of the game's 20 total characters available to play.
Among them is Blade, making his first hands-on appearance from the Samurai Outriders team, alongside the rest of the roster split across five distinct teams:
Fighting Avengers:
- Captain America
- Iron Man
- Black Panther
Unbreakable X-Men:
- Storm
- Wolverine
- Danger
- Magik
Amazing Guardians:
- Spider-Man
- Ms. Marvel
- Star-Lord
- Peni Parker
Samurai Outriders:
- Ghost Rider
- Blade
Knights of Doom:
- Doctor Doom
- Magneto
The open beta gives fans one of the clearest looks yet at what "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls" will offer when it officially launches on August 6.
