Martin Lewis 'viscerally angry' after Kate Garraway shows video

Kate Garraway was "terrified" after Martin Lewis appeared on Good Morning Britain to issue a stark warning.

Kate, 56, was at the helm of the popular daytime programme alongside Ben Shephard, 48, on Friday. Martin regularly appears on the show to give viewers money-saving tips and tricks, but today he had bad news.

A deepfake video of Martin has been created, and it looks incredibly realistic. In the video a fake Martin says: "Elon Musk has launched a new project in which he has already invested $3bn.

"Musk's new project opens up a great investment opportunity for British citizens. No project has ever given such opportunities".

After viewers were shown the clip, which Kate emphasised is fake, she said: "Gosh Martin, I mean that is terrifying. It looks like you, it sounds like you. Absolutely terrifying".

Martin replied: "Yeah I mean I'm even wearing the same shirt, I'm not sure of the exact tech but this is going around Facebook at the moment. This is the early stage of the technology, they're only going to get better."

He continued that he is "viscerally angry" about the video, adding: "I have been campaigning for proper regulation for scam adverts for years".

Reacting to the video, James said on Twitter: "It’s sadly going to get a lot worse before any form of control measures are put in place", while Nicola said: "This is absolutely terrifying, poor Martin".

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
