Martin Lewis MSE issues 24 hour alert to anyone looking for cheaper petrol

Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert team has issued a 24 hour alert to anyone looking for cheaper petrol.

People across the UK have relied on the consumer champion's financial advice throughout the cost of living crisis. People's pockets have been hit hard by soaring costs of food, energy bills and petrol prices.

Martin shares the latest tips in his Money Saving Expert newsletter. This week's edition alerted drivers to a current deal at Morrisons that can help save on petrol if they fill up at one of the supermarket's forecourts.

However, shoppers have just a day to redeem the deal as the offer expires tomorrow. A member of the team said: "Until February 19, spend £35 or more in one go in-store at Morrisons and you'll get a coupon for 5p per litre off petrol or diesel to use at a Morrisons filling station by Sunday 26 February."

The deal was last available at the start of January so the supermarket chain runs this offer fairly regularly. The MSE team estimates the offer would save around £2.75 on a typical petrol family car.

They added: "If you were going to spend at least £35 at Morrisons anyway, it's worth taking advantage. Morrisons says you'll automatically receive one coupon per £35 or more qualifying spend, whether you're paying at a till or a self-checkout. You can use it on one fuel purchase (up to a maximum of 100 litres) for one vehicle."

However, motorists are reminded Morrisons may not be the cheapest petrol forecourt and are advised to check PetrolPrices.com to find the cheapest in their area.
