Martin Lewis: 'Every Brit can have £175 if they switch bank account by Monday'

Popular money-saving specialist Martin Lewis has revealed a method which allows everyone in Britain to get £175 if they switch bank account by Monday.

The 47-year-old TV presenter and journalist who has his own ITV1 show and does regular stints on Good Morning Britain and This Morning, issued the advice to those looking to splash out on Black Friday.

Birmingham Live reports that Lewis told ITV's flagship breakfast show: "HSBC is giving people £175 for switching to its bank account.

"You have to do it by Monday, but as part of the conditions you also have to pay in £1,750 a month, which is a salary of £26,000.

"But you could split that up - pay in £1,000, take out £750 then put it back in for a second time.

"The £175 comes within 40 days, so about second week of January you’d get the cash, which if you’re spending in Black Friday might be quite helpful."

Lewis then went on to also share his best deals ahead of Black Friday.

“Deals come in two forms," he said. "The ones I most like are those with blanket codes or vouchers that operate cross-store, as here you can usually buy what you would have bought anyway at a discount.

“There are also one-off deals on individual items, done at places like Apple, which gives vouchers on top. Yet I worry here people buy because it’s cheap, not because they need.”
